INCORPORATE KINDNESS INTO YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

Do you remember the last time you said thank you when showing your appreciation? It may seem like a small thing, but it’s incredible how much an impact you could potentially have on someone else.

It’s effortless to do and doesn’t cost you a thing, just a little extra energy.

You’ll make others happy, and it will help make the world a better place, one thank you at a time.

The words thank you alone are not enough; they must be verbalized sincerely or through small actions.

Just imagine if everyone showed their gratitude with a verbal thank you, an action of kindness, or a warm smile. When you’ve had a bad day, what would a friendly smile, for no reason, do to the way you’re feeling? Especially during a difficult situation.

And, you’re not only making others happy, but you’ll also find that the statement “it’s better to give than to receive” actually has merit to it.

To follow are a few ideas to get you started:

Handwritten Thank-You Note

In the time of emails and short phone texts, a note with a handwritten note and mailed via the good ole’ “snail mail” can make all the difference to the recipient who may be tired of digital communication.

Take it a step further and tuck a little gift, something that fits into the envelope, for an extra surprise.

Hugs Are Still Free

It’s a little more difficult now, but even an “air hug” goes a long way, especially to those closest to us. And of course, it should be done with sincerity and never to a stranger who may run if you try to hug him/her.

Give Someone a Free Favor

Buy a friend or colleague a cup of their favorite coffee or offer to run an errand for them.

If you can do something that reduces their stress or guarantees a smile, you’ve accomplished what you wanted. And, NEVER ask for anything in return.

Give Credit Publicly

Public praise is often one of the most significant ways to acknowledge someone’s accomplishments or show gratitude. If you can do this openly, it will go a very long way in the mind of the receiving person in front of others. Don’t expect it in return and always mean what you say; otherwise, it weakens the effort.

Give a Kindness Surprise

When your wife/husband comes home after a long day, do something that allows her/him to relax and be swept off their feet to the knowledge that a finished chore, a clean car, or dinner is removed from their list of tasks, giving them back time.

There are so many ways you can make someone else’s life better while remaining true to yourself and putting a smile on their face. And, you’ll be amazed at how good it makes you feel!
