REDUCE HOLIDAY TASK STRESS AT THE OFFICE

Whether your business is retail or offers professional services, this time of year can be quite stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. To follow are some tips to get you through the holidays and look great to your employees and customers/clients.
Time to Party

Now’s the time that many organizations and large companies hold holiday parties.

These functions present a great opportunity to network, meet potential new clients or referral sources for the new year.

The new norm for this year is to go a more virtual route. If you need to build your business (and who doesn’t?), attend as many parties as possible and supply your contact information in the chat. And, if everyone is partaking in some holiday spirits, just as you would if in person, don’t overindulge as it could come across negatively on the screen.

Holiday Cards
We know you’re super busy but instead of dreading the chore of what goes into sending out a holiday card to your clients, customers and colleagues, think of it as a marketing task. Sending a card is an easy and inexpensive way to stay top-of-mind with those you do business with all year. And an excellent opportunity to reach out festively to potential opportunities to attract new business.
To reduce the work, these are some steps to make it easier:
  • Keep up with your list throughout the year by adding new names and updating address information as needed.
  • Order cards and envelopes with your company name to reduce work.
  • Hire a virtual firm to address your cards to remove the most significant part of the task from your plate.
Gift Giving

The holidays are perfect for remembering those who have helped make your business a success throughout the year.

You can accomplish this with a modestly priced gift as it doesn’t have to be elaborate because, after all, it’s the thought that counts, isn’t it?

For your employees, a holiday bonus with some chocolates is perfect, or a monogrammed gift that your clients can actually use, like a fun desk game or classy writing pen. Be creative and check the Internet as there are several ideas targeted to companies like yours.

Gift Certificates
Do you currently sell gift certificates? Many think you need to be in retail to sell them, but they work just as well for professional services or trade services like an electrician or plumber. This time of year maybe your slow season, but you can increase cash flow now as they can use the certificate in the future when they need it, especially if you offer it at a discount.
Holiday Diversity

Remember, the only holiday this time of year isn’t just Christmas. You must be sensitive to all employees and customers. For example,
Make sure you are sensitive to a broad spectrum of customers.

Recognize the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah and the African-American celebration of Kwanzaa, and you’ll increase both sales and goodwill.

Setting Priorities
You’re busy but try not to get so distracted by work that you forget important things like family, friends, and community. Spend time with those you care about and always make room to help those who are less fortunate by donating money or volunteer your time.
